Mission
The Philadelphia Council for Community Advancement (PCCA) is a regional housing nonprofit that seeks to economically empower individuals and families through financial literacy education and comprehensive housing counseling, helping to strengthen families and communities.
Guiding Philosophy
We believe all individuals and families deserve the gratification and benefits of homeownership. PCCA provides the vehicle to help consumers achieve their dreams and become self-sufficient.
History
PCCA was founded in 1962 to focus on housing counseling and community revitalization. Since 1979, PCCA has focused specifically on housing counseling, providing over 76,000 individuals and families to date with comprehensive housing counseling and educational services designed to promote homeownership and community stability.
In addition to conducting community workshops on a variety of housing and finance issues, PCCA's housing counselors provide individualized counseling for families and individuals of all backgrounds and incomes, although the majority of our clients are households of very low-, low- and moderate-incomes.
These sessions address the spectrum of related issues that impact each household in buying and sustaining affordable homes, such as personal budgeting and asset management and formation, financial literacy, home buying and financing, mortgage default and foreclosure avoidance, as well as reverse education and counseling for seniors.
